phonotropes
Short Animation | 2022
The National Maritime Museum Art&Design Club’s Masterclass with Jim Le Fevre was a fun, informative and very productive introduction to animation.
Jim started with a captivating talk about himself, his route into animation and the types of projects he works on then outlined the history of animation and the process of making an animated advert. He then introduced the task: making “phonotropes”, Jim’s patented 3D variation of the zoetrope technique using record decks.
Each Club member created several designs, and they took turns to test them, using a camera linked to a screen.

Asexual Film
MultiMedia Animation | 5m | 2025

I have created a short film that sheds a little light on asexuality. From my research, I found that asexuals were one of the most underrepresented groups of the LGBTIA+.
The topic of the film itself is asexual identity and some of the characteristics and traits that are associated with that label. The audience is not only for the misunderstood asexual people but also to inform the public of their presence. There is an entire community that thinks they’re strange, alone, and the only one experiencing these feelings. My primary focus was on a greater understanding of asexuality. For those who already know what asexuality is and are finding community in it, as well as those who may be asexual but may not know it yet. By creating this film, I hope they feel some connection with it in one way or another, a connection to themselves or someone they know.

Here are some projects I have worked on as live briefs. This means it was a real company brief. These projects involved going back and forth with clients or certain specifications to adhere to.

GF Smith
I created an animation to promote GF smiths's latest range of paper 'Extract'.
This new paper is made of recyled cups and virgin fibres. The brand wanted to emphasise the ecofriendlyness of this new paper and how it can be used.
The animation is entirely made from paper scans. i thought it was intergral to use the paper within the animation itself to highlight it's creative uses and vibrant colour and texture.
