About Me.

IMG_5135.jpeg

I've wanted to become an artist since the age of 4, as I have always watched cartoons and animated movies and loved to draw. I have completed a Level 2 and Level 3 Diploma in Art and Design as well as an HND. I am now on my way to finishing my BA in Visual Communications.

Although I would like to be an Art Director, I’m not limited to it. My wide range of knowledge allows me to work within other areas of the creative field. I have a diverse set of skills, such as printmaking, developing photos, photography, ceramics, painting, drawing, Photoshop, cyanotypes, 3D modelling, animation, glass painting, makeup artistry, and more.

In my youth, I was very inspired by movies and cartoons, and I believe this is what led me down the creative path, as well as my love for drawing and creating. I have been to art clubs throughout my childhood, and I was even invited to a private art club in secondary school. I researched international animation studios where I could work, such as Passion Animation, Pixar, Disney, Dreamworks, Industrial Light And Magic, Netflix, Sony, Aardman, Ludo Studios, and more. They are all companies I have always had the ambition to try and work for and would be incredibly proud of should I get the opportunity.

I have seen many animated movies and enjoyed seeing all the small details (like in fabrics, storylines and backgrounds) and "Easter eggs" that animators have left as a homage to previous films. I also like the colour schemes of each chapter of the movie, representing the tones of the scene and diverse and well-rounded characters that aren't black and white in personality. However, with the creative world ever expanding, I have found new inspirational ways to create. There’s a whole new age of people having greater access to creative outlets, and seeing what people make is amazing. I’d happily work on any creative project if it sparks joy.

As a hobby, I have also attended private ceramic lessons where I have enjoyed making creatures in 3D. I love the different textures you can create with the clay.  I was lucky to receive an iPad Pro for Christmas 2019 but haven’t put it down since. After extensive research, I have a few tools to help aid my creativity: software, paints, audio equipment and camera equipment. I use applications such as Procreate and Stop Motion to make small animations and artwork. I have also experimented with Maya and Blender. Not all of my artwork is made for work; I often get artsy as a hobby. Recently, I have indulged myself in a lot more photography. Ever since I bought myself a “proper” camera, I have done far more photography than I ever expected. I often carry it around whenever I can in hopes of capturing some incredible photos. If there’s nothing to take a picture of (there always is), I create something myself, often painting my face for hours and then modelling it or playing with the settings in Adobe Lightroom until I get a colourful mess. Often, this happens on the spur of the moment when I decide I’m bored and then paint myself as a leopard or something, Which often disturbs my family when I come down for dinner. I also have got into glass bottle painting. I often spend hours painting Western or Gothic themes onto differently shaped bottles that people have given me. I often keep these along the windowsill or give them as gifts.

In terms of my history, I have lived on the  Gold Coast in Australia for most of my childhood (from the age of 6-11). While I was in Australia, I experienced both private and public school and still participated in art clubs. I also experienced a completely different lifestyle and culture, which has given me a broader view of the world. As a person who’s had many experiences at a young age, I'm open-minded and fascinated with people. I’d love to collaborate and share ideas to create something fantastic.

Art and Design at Banbury and Bicester College is focussed on developing personalised pathway, allowing you to undertake a broad and multi-disciplined programme of study. Whilst learners may take this qualification in a specialist subject, it is also ideal for those who have not decided which discipline or subject area within art and design they wish to specialise in. The creative industries need people with a mix of technical and creative skills. It relies on people that know how to work as part of a team, but still have that independent mindset, which you’ll grow through setting your own challenges. If you’re ready to specialise in an area, we’ve got you covered too! Our specialist subjects include:

  • Fine Art

  • Fashion

  • Photography

  • Visual Communication

  • Textiles

  • Illustration

  • Advertising

  • Printmaking

Whatever your area of interest, you’ll be taught by industry-experienced practitioners in professional-level facilities.

In the first year of this course, you will study for the Diploma. Once that Diploma is successfully achieved, you will be invited to continue on to complete the full Extended Diploma in the second year of the course.
